About
Founder: Michelle Welling
Michelle has been delivering wellbeing and treatment solutions since 2004 across hotels, hospitality, corporate spaces, and festivals.
The Spa Y.A.R.D. is more than a spa—it’s a soul-led sanctuary rooted in healing, service, and resilience.
Michelle’s journey began with a beauty course and a role at Chanel in Heathrow Airport, where she built a strong foundation in luxury service and client care. Her path then led through corporate sales roles (Dell, SGI, Reed), but after becoming a mother in 2000, she pursued deeper wellness training—reflexology, sports massage, nutrition, and holistic therapies. This led to work with the Reading Football Club and the launch of her first spa, Karma Therapy Rooms, in 2004 at the Millennium Madejski Hotel. She later trained in meditation, breathwork, and mindfulness.
As Karma grew, she brought wellness into every setting—from Reading Festival’s backstage massage for artists like Linkin Park, to corporate wellbeing programs with brands like PUMA UK and InterSystems.
On Christmas Eve 2019, a serious car accident with her children changed everything. The physical and emotional recovery reshaped her view of healing. She discovered that true restoration blends breath, movement, touch, and nature—retraining the body’s stress responses to restore balance and presence.
This journey of healing and insight became the foundation of The Spa Y.A.R.D.—a space where restoration is intentional, elemental, and energetically grounded. Come and visit us.
